Louisa Hollenberg
After Louisa and her mother suffered from health problems associated with toxin exposure, Louisa realised something wasn’t right. She decided to research why the rates of cancer, fertility issues, allergies and obesity are higher now than any time in history.
She was shocked to learn that the beauty and cosmetics industry is largely unregulated and use of toxic ingredients linked to these and other health issues is commonplace. This put her on a journey towards demanding a safer and more accountable beauty and cosmetics industry.
After deciding to reduce her toxic load Louisa searched for an expert on the Gold Coast to give her advice about effective skin products she could trust.
When she couldn’t find what she was looking for she decided to leave behind her career in Dentistry and open Earth and Skin.
Since opening her organic day spa in 2014, Louisa and her team have helped treat and educate over 10,000 people about these issues. As a result, Earth and Skin is now known as the best day spa and beauty shop in Queensland. Earth and Skin has been featured in many publications such as Mamamia, Gold Coast Bulletin, Jetstar Magazine, Urban List GC, to name a few.
Louisa is now a leader in the organic beauty industry and the proud author of her book ‘Clean Skin in a Dirty World‘ – the perfect introduction to low-tox skincare. She has also launched a podcast exploring sustainability and natural beauty with fellow experts called “The Dirty World Podcast“.
Louisa believes that by making small changes to our everyday behaviour, we can dramatically change our long term health and save our planet.
